A Dusty Trail Laid in Glass

At the end of the journey,
A thousand footsteps on
Hard, unforgiving road,
I laid down
I slept
Ever deeper
As time waned on
Drowning in slumber
Until I could not wake
Having saved only
What I needed for the trip
Nothing for beyond
I had conquered the trial
The unforgiving tests
Of the path laid behind
But had kept nothing
For what lay ahead
I completed my taks
Which in turn
Completed me.
